George Floyd Murals • Minneapolis

In the days following George Floyd’s murder a group of local artists including myself rallied over 50 volunteers to paint 12 murals in 5 days. We partnered with members of the community and local businesses that had to board up their storefronts to turn their blank plywood coverings into canvases with a message. We used art as a tool to amplify marginalized voices and continue conversations around racial justice. We organized, we painted, and most importantly, we listened. This project was a practice in organization, working swiftly and efficiently, and navigating group dynamics with a fast turn around.
